Professor William Howell of the University of Chicago will discuss his new book, 'Presidents, Populism and the Crisis of Democracy' which will focus on what needs to happen in America if democracy is to be preserved. He will not only discuss the need for the U.S. to accept the crisis for what it is, he will also delve into how it came about and what its current trajectory is likely to be. Professor Howell will explore what can be done to diffuse the populist threat through targeted reforms and policies. Will Donald Trump and populism continue to threaten democracy if elected in 2020? Or, will Joe Biden bring normalcy back to the presidency and keep our democratic house from burning to the ground?
