UChicago Urban Network: Confronting Trauma to Stop the Cycle of Violence in Chicago
The intersecting crises of a global pandemic and gun violence have devastated communities across Chicago, creating national headlines while challenging civic leaders to find solutions to save lives. For those most closely impacted by gun violence, the trauma of surviving violence persists long after the headlines fade. Addressing the root causes of violence and improving urban life starts with confronting the trauma faced by survivors and working from the communities-up to enact meaningful change. Join national leaders and top UChicago practitioners for a conversation on how to confront and treat trauma in underserved communities in order to break the cycle of violence in Chicago and build a model for cities nationwide in how to confront violence and improve the lives of residents.
